An explanation about this Rudra Abishek from Rajya Lakshmi Ji, the founder of Om Kriya Yog Foundation.

What’s it all about:

It gives info on SRI RUDRAM and its wondrous effect on all levels, physical, spiritual, and astral level. If you are serious about Yogic practice from a Vedic perspective, SRI VIDYA, SRI RUDRA sadhana is for you. This sadhana has been explained by none other than SRI BHAGWAN DEVADHIDEV MAHADEV, to MAA PARVATI (along with her dash Mahavidya).

Sri Rudraprasna, Rudradhyaya, or Satyarudriya:

The DEVADHIDEV mahadev as SRI Rudra is overwhelming. He is benevolent and fierce, untamable, forever in Yoga, beyond our grasp and yet benevolent and helpful to all sincere spiritual aspirants. As Lord of Yoga, of Yogis, of Tapasya and spiritual practice, Devadhidev Mahadev Shiva is an inescapable part of all spiritual sadhana. Furthermore, as the consort of MAA Parvati (beautiful, laya roopa of Shakti), whenever DEVADHIDEV mahadev does Tandav, MAA accompanies him in her LAYA Tandav, eternal feminine and the eternal masculine, the un-manifest unbounded and the manifested reality.

Sri Rudraprasna, Rudradhyaya, or Satyarudriya, many of few names, has particular wild rasa or taste, as if you are plugging in to the infinite cosmic current at its full power. You cannot fail to be exhilarated, uplifted and swept along by its breathless pace all at once!

The Chamakam, with its repetition of Cha Me, to Me, asks for all sorts of wishes to be granted to you. The Rudram itself leaves no qualmns about the mightiness of the Supreme, both as creator, preserver, and destroyer. Through chanting it, Ritwic acknowledge all the aspects of life, both its benign and malign aspects, we accept the totality of manifested and un-manifested existence. It acts like an arrow, piercing though the noise of the world and its aim is self-purification, cleansing our inner perception and sweeping away what needs to go so that the glorious overwhelming light of the Paramatman shines out.

The best ways to learn the Sri Rudram, is to learn it from a ritwic who has graduated from a renowned Vedic Purohit University. I have also found Sri Sai Baba web site to be extremely helpful. (http://www.sssbpt.org/sri-rudram/instructions-to-user.htm and http://www.sssbpt.org/sri-rudram/chamakam.html ).  The reason being the anuvakya (text) contains the necessary marks to indicate when a tone should be higher, lower, or stay the same – and this is the key to the Sri Rudram. Unless you know all of its melodic twists and turns for each word, any aspirant will not be able to recite it properly.

I would also like to add, you don’t have to know every arcane detail of MAHADEV worship. You do need a resolve, a single-mindedness devotion and, of course, a spare 40 minutes. No harm will befall you from chanting it at any hour, in any place. Practice makes recitation of RUDRAM prefect. But you will enjoy it immensely if you manage to be alone in a sacred space. But it is not for the casual, or uncommitted. Chanting the sri Rudram can be an act of courage in all adverse circumstances.

This purpose has always been part of all our sadhana sessions.

There will be two mandaps – one for those who recite Rudram and other  for those who can recite Mahamritunjay mantra or are learning to recite. ( We must entourage our next generation to how recite different mantra/shloka and the inherent benefit of NAAD BRAHM/yoga).

What will happen during 24 hours Yagya:

There will be Prasad (food) offered to all the devotees entire time. On 26th February, there will be Maha Prasad. If any one wants to bring satvic food (no onion and garlic) to offer during the langer (prasad), they can.

This yagya is being organized under precise supervisision of Param Poojya Yogiraj Sri Sri 1008 Barphani Dadaji, (Ramanada Sampradaya). Come forward and be part of this yagya, please reply to this email where and how you would like to do seva for this yagya.

There will be pancha kaal sringar and pancha kaal aarti of Bholenath. During this entire time we will all recite Rudram and those who are not well verse in Rudram will recite Mahamritunjay jaap. Just like in the past yagya we will perform abhishek with 11 items and Three Gomukha dhara (Maa Ganga came out in Gomukha).

What to bring as a Yagaman or Maha Yagaman:

Every bhakta will get a chance to recite MAHAMRITUNJAY JAAP and perform abhishek. Every bhakta will get a chance to perform abhishek with Milk, Yogurt, Ghee, Honey, sugar, lemon juice, coconut juice, mango juice, sugarcane juice, five fruit juice, etc. Benefits of offering these items to MAHADEV- Cow Milk – All-round happiness; Cow curds – health; Cow ghee – financial prosperity; Sugarcane(juice or candy) – destruction of sorrow; Honey – Tejo Vridhi; Coconut water – Sarva Sampada Vridhi; Bhasmam – destruction of great sins; Sandal wood water – Sons prosperity; Pushpodakam – Bhoolabh; Bilvajalam – Bhog and Bhagya; Doorvodakam – Nasta Dravya Prapti; Sesame Oil – Apa Mrityu Haram; Rudrakshodakam – Maha Iswaryam; Gold water – destruction of Daridra; Rice – Raajya Prapti; Grape Juice- Sakala Kaarya Jayam; Dates – Kharjur juice – destruction of both internal and external enemies; black apples – renunciation; Kasturi Water – Kingdom; Nav Ratan Jal – Dhanya, gruha development; Mango Juice – destruction of long ailments; Turmeric water – Mangal pradam
