Dear Friends,

Subject: Paris Attack Was Inevitable: Result Of West’s Duplicity And Hypocrisy: Could Be Good For The War On Terror

The ISIS suicidal multiple attacks in Paris on November 14 was almost waiting to happen. ISIS control an area greater than that of Britain and possess an armoury, no less than that of a regular armed force. And, all this was made possible because of different world powers. For what? For sheer greed of power and money.

In the so-called on-going Syrian civil war, two fronts, US-led alliance and the Saudi Arabia-led alliance, had been on airstrikes only. In came the Russians. ISIS shifted their attention to Russia. But, soon Russia and US joined hands. Then, the prowess of the ISIS, despite some hits against both US and Russia felt it was necessary to fight it to the last

In came the Paris attack. The French President termed it as a war and assured suitable answer. The platforms of two International Conferences, G-20 and the BRICKS, have been suitably utilised to roundly condemn the Paris attack and propound the need for a united world forum against the ISIS. The latter must be having a hearty laugh at this pious declaration. They have now announced more in Europe and also to hit Washington. They had earlier declared to rule over the world by 2050, as written in Urdu and found in a village in Pakistan (duly reported by us). The world powers did not possibly take due note of that piece of documentary evidence. The Americans, who had stumbled upon that document, had got it duly examined and declared that to be authentic.

The English dailies in the capital have been disappointing. These are more preoccupied with covering the event like, one of the assailants, believed to be in newly designed home-made suicide jacket, etc., etc. Nothing much in any editorials on this never-before-in-France-event or why now? As has been indicated in the mail received by us (attached), THIS WAS WAITING TO HAPPEN. It is an excellent report and is worth reading several times. We have done that and hence can vouchsafe for its quality. We had initially thought of simply forwarding that mail (now sent as attachment) for the simple pleasure of enjoying a good read.

But, the disappointment caused by the quality of editorial contents on Paris in esteemed dailies in Delhi forced us to attempt some analysis of the event, even when neither do we have the necessary expertise on such exercises nor do we have the necessary credentials.

An honourable exception was M J Akbar, who in his “The Sunday Guardian” on November 15 came out with “Terror is Terror; Stop The Game Of Alibis”. This is also a great piece (attached) worth reading again and again. Comparing the ISIS with Trojan Horse, Akbar observes, quite valdly, that we cannot dismiss the possibility that nuclear contamination would be within the reach of the ISIS, that they have claimed to have shortly to reach the US. The ISIS had earlier declared that they would be having nuclear arsenal to reach US within the next two years. Talking about the pretensions of the world powers, he, therefore, ends up with almost the same question: “When will this game of alibis get over? If it continues, Paris will continue”.

Let us now get back to our game. To begin from the beginning but we will try to keep that short. The ISIS made its sudden appearance with a bang. It declared a Caliphate in June last year and by now they seem to be calling the shots against the combined world powers. The secret lies in HYPOCRISY, on the other side, even now being indulged in by at least the US and Saudi Arabia, and also apparently by the UN.

One theory is it is Saudi Arabia’s game to spread Wahabbism all over the world, particularly targeting non-Sunni Shia countries. Thanks to the Americans’ fidelity with the Saudis, the former are keen on fully arming the Saudis’ puppet the ISIS. If this argument carries the day, the second part of the title that it was waiting to happen due to “DUPLICTY AND HYPOCRISY” also holds the ground.

In an uncalled for statement, a former US President “urged for the war on ISIS but not against Islam”. Hypocrisy, like flattery, does not seem to have any limit. Earlier, the British Prime Minister Cameron had also been “diplomatic” in declaring to take stern action against terrorists. There was no mention that was against Islamist terrorists.

It would be interesting to note that no Islamic countries have so far condemned the Paris attack. There has been a flash news that the Imams of Paris, London and Mumbai have announced that they had nothing to do with the Paris incident but did not have guts to join the world chorus of condemnation.

One of the attackers, who is till now in hiding, has been identified to be among the “asylum seekers”. Will the German Chancellor as well as the corporate body of the EU take note of it? What about their indirect culpability in the Paris attack? Was it not waiting to happen since the Charli Hebdo days? The man behind is believed to be a Belgian.

The attackers are believed to be using “suicide vests” that could be manufactured at home—a dangerous portent for security agencies all over.

What about intelligence failure and the assistance from home-grown jihadis. An attack of this scale could not have just happened. The planning must have been going on for quite some time. Admitting that human intelligence cannot always be forthcoming, what about technical and technological intelligence? Were not various channels of social media being monitored, particularly when the terrorists are nowadays used to communicate on these media channels? Cannot we, therefore, say that the Western powers were sleeping when “Rome was burning”? So, again, the Paris attack was waiting to happen.

In the middle of his piece, Akbar made a very valid observation: “Nations who have been worst hit by terrorism remain ambivalent about the hunt for the mastermind, pursuing a quarry only when it suits them rather than as a principle. We hear the same clichés on the day of a tragedy. Once memory cools, politics and clever advocacy of geostrategic options prevail.”

Be that as it may, what do we recommend for India only? Many ideas come up automatically. But, keeping an eye on the length of the mail, we intend to leave that to the specialist security analysts. But, we cannot resist from making a point or two on Intelligence. Time is not too late to give these bodies some manpower, a basic requirement. They need “more boots on the ground”, as the UP President said a few days ago in the context of the Syrian war. Intelligence is always the fall-guy, but neither the political masters nor the bureaucracy ever cared to know and appreciate that “INTELLENCE, INTELLIGENCE AND INTELLIGENCE” has to permeate all walks of life for sheer survival. Yes, it is intelligence that differentiates human beings from animals.

And, if we all take this up boldly and make the US and Russia lead a joint front honestly (since called up by the French President), the world may get rid of this scourge to human civilisation, namely, the ISIS, at least for some years till another Caliphate leader raises its head. After all, Islam as a religion and the Quran as its expression will still be there. For nothing, Gladstone with a copy of that book in his hand, had said in the House of Commons that there could be no peace in the world so long this book exists.

In any case, we hope to see learned dissertations on the subject soon.
