pr-480Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia wished good luck to Narendra Modi “for a great PM tenure.” Togadia received an invitationfor the swearing-in ceremony only on Monday morning but he will not attend the event due to his prior engagements.

“I received invitation today at 10:30 am for PM oath taking function. Due to programmes planned much earlier I wouldn’t attend it.

Best wishes for the programme and for a great PM tenure,” Togadia told The Indian Express when asked if he would attend the event to be held in the evening in the national capital to help us personalise your reading experience.

Once considered close the relationship between Togadia and Modi turned sour after members of the VHP and Bajrang Dal began to get arrested for their alleged involvement in the 2002 riots.

The following years witnessed the duo parting their ways and their relationship today remains dysfunctional, sources say.

No other VHP members from Gujarat has been invited. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Gujarat chief Jayanti Bhadesia will beattending the ceremony.
