HJS drive : Curb water pollution and stop malpractices in celebrating festival
Pune (Maharashtra) : On the occasion of ‘Holi festival, ‘Dhuli-vandan’ and ‘Rang-Panchami’, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has undertaken a drive for prevention of pollution of water in Khadakvasla water reservoir and for putting curb on malpractices taking place in celebrating this festival.
HJS has been undertaking this drive for the past 13 years to protect Khadakvasla water reservoir from pollution. Even this year, on 6th March i.e. ‘Dhuli-vandan’ and on 11th March i.e. ‘Ranga-Panchami’ awareness will be created amongst people by making a human-chain around the reservoir from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, the State Coordinator of HJS has made an appeal to all patriotic citizens for joining this drive in large number while addressing a press conference held on 3rd March, to inform about this drive.
Shri. Vijay Gawade of ‘Patit Pavan Sanghatana’ and Shri. Chandrashekhar Tandale of Sanatan Sanstha were present for the press conference. Shri. Ghanavat said that organizations like ANiS and so-called environment friendly organizations make lot of noise only at the time of Hindus celebrating their festivals and keep mum about pollution taking place in other cases; thus exhibiting their pretension.
Shri. Vijay Gawade said, “Five groups of youth will be formed to prevent malpractices during celebration of festivals and these groups will keep an eye on persons involved in anti-social activities; handing them to police wherever necessary. Attempts will be made to prevent malpractices through patrolling squads.”
Shri. Tandale explained the science behind festivals of ‘Holi’ and ‘Ranga-Panchami’. He said, “Do not fall prey to advice given by intellectuals; like celebrating ‘Trash-Holi’ or ‘Holi lahan, Poli daan’ etc. as it is perversion and they are trying to mislead people.”
1. Supply of potable water is made through Khadakvasala water reservoir to Pune city. Many people go to this reservoir for bath on the day of Dhuli-vandana and Ranga-Panchami; with their bodies coloured with chemical paints, causing water-pollution. This drive is therefore, undertaken to preserve natural wealth of this country.
2. Officers and staff of ‘Cummins India Ltd.’ have been participating in this drive since past 2 years.
3. ‘Restrictions should be imposed on playing with colours at public places, throwing balloons filled with coloured water or forcefully applying colours, consuming liquor and smoking, having feasts etc. Squads of police should be formed for patrolling and prevention of malpractices. They can take youth into custody in case found involved in malpractices; and punish them stringently. Action should be taken against sellers selling chemical colours and balloons’, are the demands made through representation.
4. Those who want to join this drive, may contact on 8983335517.
